Suspect detained after shots fired on Sacramento State campus

Sacramento State University said a suspect has been detained after shots were fired on campus on Saturday evening. There were no injuries.

University police received a report of shots being fired in Parking Structure III at 7:15 p.m., a campus spokesperson said.
Witnesses reported seeing the alleged suspect leave the structure on foot, the university said.
A message posted on the university’s website and sent out to students earlier read: “Dangerous situation! Shots fired. Police responding. Avoid Parking Structure 3. Stadium shelter in place until all clear is given.”

The message was also posted on the Sacramento State Police Department’s social media accounts.

According to a KCRA 3 reporter at the game, the game was not stopped after the message was sent out.

Parking Structure III is the nearest parking structure to Hornet Stadium.
The university said there is no ongoing threat.
