49ers owner Jed York makes first public appearance since arrest
Clearly, San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was ready for his NFL suspension to end and wasted no time before reemerging in the public eye.

Nearly two months after York was arrested in a prostitution sting operation on Aug. 23 near his Ohio hometown, York made his first public appearance at the NFL owners meeting on Tuesday in New York. USA Today reporter Chris Bumbaca posted a video showing York walking through the lobby and heading to the first day of the NFL’s two days of meetings in Manhattan.

The appearance comes eight weeks and one day after York’s arrest first became public knowledge, with York pleading no contest to two misdemeanor charges in court on Aug. 24. York was ordered to pay $1,150 in fines and sentenced to serve one day in jail for each charge, which were served concurrently.
York skipped the last one-day owners meeting, which took place in Atlanta on Aug. 26 — just three days after his arrest. 49ers CEO Al Guido attended in York’s place for the meeting, which was mainly held to approve the sale of the Seahawks to the Khosla family.
York’s eagerness to return to work and get out from under the cloud of his arrest and suspension is not exactly a shock. He willingly kept himself away from the team for the first three weeks of the NFL season, even though the league hadn’t officially suspended him yet. The NFL then gave him credit for those missed games in announcing his suspension on Oct. 2, shortening his punishment. (Left unexplained in all of this is an ESPN report that York still traveled all the way to Melbourne, Australia, ahead of the 49ers’ Week 1 game in the city against the Rams, even though York did not attend the game.)

According to San Francisco Standard columnist Tim Kawakami, York was expected to “immediately be back in charge–publicly and privately–as soon as his suspension ended.” Kawakami also believes that York’s attendance at Tuesday’s meeting means he’ll be in Atlanta on Sunday, when the Niners face the Falcons.
York did not answer questions from media members on Tuesday prior to the meetings starting and has not talked to the media at all since his arrest, only offering a single public comment via a statement when the NFL announced his suspension.
