After evading authorities for nearly a year, a California fugitive was captured in Arizona after a multiagency search effort, officials announced last week.\u00a0<\/p>

According to a June 12 news release from the El Dorado County District Attorney\u2019s Office and the FBI Sacramento Field Office, authorities captured sex offender Carl Cacconie, who had been on the run for almost 10 months.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

In July of 2025, Cacconie was convicted of six counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, and faced sentencing in August, the release says. Despite requests from the El Dorado County DA\u2019s office to send him into custody while he awaited sentencing, Cacconie was out on bail, which was set at $1 million. Cacconie agreed to surrender his passport and wear a monitoring device, which stopped transmitting just days before sentencing. He was last seen in San Francisco on Aug. 22, 2025.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>
