Fairfield police have still not named a suspect as they investigate the deadly shooting of a teen who was killed Wednesday evening following a graduation ceremony at Fairfield High School. Three other people, including an 11-year-old, were injured in the attack.<\/p>

Police said they responded at about 7:15\u00a0p.m. to a shooting in the parking lot following the ceremony for Sem Yeto Continuation High School, which shares a campus with Fairfield High School. According to the statement, approximately 1,000 people were at the event and the deadly shooting was witnessed by potentially hundreds of people.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

\u201cDetectives are currently identifying and interviewing these witnesses and are actively following up on investigative leads,\u201d the statement read.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

Officials also said rumors that the injured 11-year-old victim had died were untrue and said the child was recovering at a local hospital.<\/p><\/div>

June 4, 9:30 a.m.<\/strong>Shots rang out on the campus of a Fairfield high school shortly after a graduation ceremony, killing one teen and injuring three other people on Wednesday evening.<\/p><\/div>

The deadly shooting occurred as families returned to their cars and posed for photos after the ceremony for Sem Yeto continuation school, which shares a campus with Fairfield High School.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

In a brief press conference on Wednesday evening, Fairfield police spokesperson Michelle Belyea\u00a0said an 18-year-old had been killed in the shooting and three other people, including an 11-year-old, were also injured. It was not clear whether the teen killed in the shooting was taking part in the graduation ceremony.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

Belyea said they \u201cdon\u2019t have any information that there\u2019s an ongoing threat to the community,\u201d but said that it was a \u201cvery active incident.\u201d At this point, no suspects have been named.\u00a0<\/p>

One witness told KRON-TV that\u00a0people were posing for photographs when he saw a person run into the area with a gun.<\/p><\/div>

\u201cOut of nowhere, some dude just ran up,\u201d Jacob Robinson told the outlet. \u201c… Then when I looked up, yeah, he pointed the gun out and just started shooting.\u201d<\/p><\/div>

Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy said in a statement on Facebook she is \u201cpraying for the families affected and all of those who witnessed the shooting.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/div>
