Surgery went very well.\u201d<\/p><\/div><div><p>Correa was injured while taking swings in the batting cage before a game last week. He said Wednesday that the injury was a complete tear and his recovery is expected to take six to eight months.<\/p><\/div><div><p>Espada is looking for Correa to help mentor some of the team\u2019s younger players while he\u2019s sidelined.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/sanfranciscomovingguide.com\/?p=108\">Jes\u00fas Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s RBI single helps the Giants rally to beat the Pirates 7-6 in 12 innings<\/a><\/p><\/div><div><\/div><div><p>\u201cHe\u2019s knowledgeable, he helps these young players stay calm and (with) how to play their position, how to go about at-bats,\u201d Espada said. \u201cThere\u2019s so many things that you could learn from Carlos.\u201d<\/p><\/div><div><p>Correa has had ankle problems in the past. In 2023, he had huge free agent deals with the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets fall through over concerns with his right ankle that was operated on in 2014. He ended up remaining with the Minnesota Twins after the deals collapsed.<\/p><\/div><div><p>Correa, who is back with the Astros after last summer\u2019s blockbuster trade from the Twins, played third base for Houston last season with Jeremy Pe\u00f1a at shortstop. But Correa has been playing shortstop recently with Pe\u00f1a out with a hamstring injury.<\/p><\/div><div><p>Correa has salaries of $31.5 million this season, $30.5 million in 2027 and $30 million in 2028.
