The chaotic series of events began at 8:30 a.m. Friday, when the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said they received a 911 call about shots fired in the area of state Highway 29 and Point Lakeview Road in Kelseyville. Deputies who responded discovered it was an apparent road rage shooting, but the alleged shooter had fled the scene.
Later that day, the sheriff’s office received a call from colleagues in the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. About two hours after the first road rage shooting, a woman called 911 from the 1000 block of Dunaweal Lane in Calistoga. The woman said she’d been shot in the face by another driver, Napa Cuonty sheriff’s spokesman Henry Wofford said.
Deputies reviewed automated license plate cameras in the area and found a vehicle that matched the suspect description driving on Highway 29 in St. Helena. When deputies went in pursuit of the vehicle, the suspect took off, leading them on a chase through Napa. Deputies were able to perform a PIT maneuver, and the driver, 38-year-old Coleman Guy Rocheleau, was arrested, Wofford said.
Once in custody, Rocheleau told Napa County detectives that there was a third victim in Kelseyville, Wofford said. Lake County deputies were then dispatched to the 10000 block of Terrace Way in Kelseyville Riviera for a welfare check. There, they discovered the body of a woman. The woman’s identity is being withheld pending a next-of-kin notification.
Rocheleau was transported to Lake County, where he is currently in jail awaiting murder and felony torture charges. This is not his first encounter with law enforcement. Contra Costa County court records show he was found guilty in 2017 of injuring a domestic partner and falsely reporting a bomb.
