Stockton-based In-N-Out manager killed in Idaho mass shooting

STOCKTON, Calif. — The In-N-Out Burger employee killed in a mass shooting in Idaho over the weekend has been identified as 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, of Stockton, California. Garibay had gone to In-N-Out’s new location in Twin Falls to train workers when she was killed in Saturday’s shooting at the fast-food restaurant, her uncle Marcos confirmed to KCRA 3.

Two other people died and seven others were wounded in the attack, police said. The gunman, 24-year-old Chad Williams, killed himself. Police said they believe he acted alone. No motive has been released.

Garibay’s uncle said the family was notified of her death on Saturday evening. Her father was in Mexico and came back on Monday.

The Twin Falls In-N-Out location had just opened on July 24 as part of the California burger chain’s expansion in other states.

“My heart is broken, my chest is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears I’ve shed,” In-N-Out owner Lynsi Synder said in a statement that described the loss of “one of our beautiful associates.”

“She was taking care of our most important asset – our customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn’t value the lives of other people or his own,” she wrote. “He shot both on our property, and off, and ended his life shortly after he took the precious lives of our associate and customers, innocent people who never saw it coming.”

As of Sunday afternoon, two victims were in critical condition, three others in stable conditions and two others were released from the hospital, police said.
